WFML Real Bride: Tina

Posted by on

Beautiful Tina and her now husband Bernie celebrated an amazing wedding day together. We were so honoured to help create Tina's dream gown! Continue reading to hear more about their big day.

So please tell us - with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly?

I planned the wedding over a year in advance. I am quite an organised person and feel better once things are off my mind. #1 was to find a venue and wedding dress. I knew that these two would take the longest so once I sorted these two, the rest would be a piece of cake. Because I was so organised I started to panic a little towards the wedding date, wondering if I had forgotten something since I had organised it so long ago. In the end, the day ran smoothly without a fault! And....if there was a fault, no one noticed.

Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?

We based our wedding style around my dress. The venue was so gorgeous with lots of greenery, whites and wood to compliment. This meant that it would me my choice of florals and decor that would change the vibe. Because of my dress choice, we went for a boho inspired look.

How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?

The dress inspired my theme. I actually hate wedding dresses. After hours and hours of endless searching up and down the coast there were none that caught my eye or even looked good on my body. I'm one for comfort, that's for sure! I was honestly about to give up! It wasn't until I went into the very last store (WFML) that I saw a dress hanging that looked interesting. I asked to try it on straight away. Once I put it on and looked in the mirror, words can't describe the feeling I had. It was the very first dress that I thought looked good on my body and was so comfortable it had to be the one! That was it. Then and there I said 'This is the one!'. The tassels around the trim lines gave me a fun vibe, and that's exactly what I wanted my wedding vibe to be..fun! I couldn't wait to dance in it!

Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around?).

Bernie was adamant that he wanted a navy suit. I refused and said that I wanted him to wear an old school brown jacket. Without giving too much detail about my dress, I was trying to explain the colour palates that I was hoping for. He couldn't understand why he couldn't just have navy. Honestly navy would have been fine, but it just wasn't the vibe I wanted alongside my dress. Eventually he ended up with navy pants, and it looked fantastic! It was a win win situation.

How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?

There was a dress I found online and thought it was going to be the one! I went to try it on and was so upset because it looked awful on me. After this, I tried on anything and everything that looked 'ok', I thought that they may all look different on. Unfortunately I tried on surely over 15 dresses in the hopes to find 'the one'. It wasn't until the very last store WFML and my last clench of hope that I found 'the one'.

How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?

Honestly, I was so excited and nervous at the same time as I don't think Bernie was expecting me to wear this style of dress and,  I wasn't sure what he would think! It was the most comfortable dress in the world, and I couldn't wait to dance in it! Once the ceremony was over, I was swarmed with compliments and photos. They were honestly NEVER ENDING! Everyone was in love with the dress. I was so happy that everyone liked it, but I was not ready for all the attention. In particular the amount of photos that were taken. WOW! By the end of the night I was ready for bed and went to take off my dress, Bernie stopped me and said 'WAIT! I'm never going to see you in this again, let me look at it one last time!'. Bernie isn't normally one for compliments but he made me feel so beautiful in that moment. I'll never forget when he said 'You are the most beautiful bride I have ever seen! I mean it, the hair, the makeup, the DRESS! I love it all. Honestly, who would have thought that 1 dress could do it all? It made my day better than I could have imagined.

Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?

The ladies at WFML were super helpful. I was starting to get over other wedding stores that would not understand me nor my style and just say that everything looked GREAT! WFML staff were honest! Honesty is huge to me. They're not there to just make money, they're truly there to make you feel beautiful and comfortable. They made me feel excited about coming back for a fitting because they are such warm and caring people who just get me!

Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?

The only advice I would give is to make sure you feel comfortable and can move around freely. You don't want to have to be worrying about not eating, your dress falling down, or people stepping on it etc. On the day you want to embrace as much as you can and not have to worry about your dress!
