So Alyssa, please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly?
Our day was perfect! I am a person who loves lists! We planned the wedding in just over 12 months and the wedding list paid off because the day ran smoothly and everything went as planned. We didn’t plan for a theme as such but I just wanted to keep the day simple, classy and elegant so the day and theme would never ‘date’.
My dress worked perfectly with our wedding vision; it suited our winter season wedding but in years to come the dress will always be perfect when we look back on our photos. I knew what style of dress I liked but I didn’t know what would suit me or how I envisaged myself looking on my wedding day. After trying around no more than half a dozen of different style dresses on I was able to determine the style of dress I wanted to wear on my wedding day.
Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him?
I wanted that process to be a boy’s experience. The groom, groomsmen, my father and the grooms father all went suit shopping together and picked suits that would compliment everyone in photos. I knew from the beginning my now husband always wanted to wear a navy suit on his wedding day so I let him have his pick for the wedding day.
How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
The gown on my wedding day was perfect. I was able to add an extra special touch of the butterfly brooch which has been a family tradition for all the females on my mother’s side of the family. It has been amazing to look back on photos from my mother and grandmothers wedding day to see them both wearing wedding dresses with sleeves with the butterfly brooch. I loved the long train and veil with my dress!
I loved my experience dress shopping at Freddie met Lilly. It was a casual, personal experience but I wouldn’t want it any other way. I didn’t feel pressured or rushed into making a decision. I had the freedom to pick and choose what I liked and wanted to try. I was given options and suggestions which assisted me to make my final dress decision.
Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
Don’t question your decision. Deep down you will know when you have found your dress. Embrace the experience of trying on and picking your gown… we should only get this time once!
