When Freddie met Lilly Formal Girl: Eva

When Freddie met Lilly Formal Girl Eva (2)So please tell us – with months of planning, did the FORMAL run smoothly !?
We had a few days in Brisbane, visiting from Central Qld, in which we were able to secure an appointment with WFML to begin our formal dress search. We didn’t need to look any further (as her mother my relief was enormous!), the amount of choice in colour, style and design was beyond belief!

Of course on the night Eva felt & looked like the happiest girl in the world. She shone because her dress was everything we hoped for & the compliments were endless. What I can appreciate most is Vanessa’s designs encompass a fit not only for the super slim but also the voluptuous and compliment either beautifully.

What dress did you choose for your big night? What sort of hair/makeup and accessories didyou have to take your look to the next level?
Eva selected the Briella gown, a stunning combination of lace & tulle. At the appointment it was in black which wasn’t our colour of choice, we had tried on several other gowns & liked red best. Vanessa expertly attached a sample of red lace from which it could easily be seen was the perfect compliment to Eva’s features. After selecting the perfect gown we then worked on accessorising. On professional advice we decided gun metal grey was the best compliment to the red & settled on Swarovski crystal drop earrings in gunmetal, a hard cased gunmetal clutch & a red corsage. Very simple, but beautifully so. Our funky make up artist/ hairdresser friend used a dramatic eye in greys & styled Eva’s hair to highlight her many, many years of growing it.

Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your FORMAL Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
WFML was who Eva had her heart set on, the huge selection and just stunning qualities to their many dresses stood out for her. I think these guys were the stand out from the beginning of Year 11, so Eve had a year to make a decision but never waivered from WFML.

Did you have a formal partner? Was his suit and tie complementary to your dress?
As a gift to the partner we purchased a beautiful black silk tie from proved a great starting point to build his outfit. We think we’ve set him up looking pretty schmick with his first ever suit purchase, the tie made it. 😉

How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
It was around 5-7 maybe and while several suited the Briella was a knock out. We were tantalised to hear from Vanessa that this gown was being show cased for the first time at an event that was under wraps at the time. Of course we imagined which famous person must be going to be seen in it, or a film…we were bowled over to eventually discover Vanessa included it in her first foray at NEW YORK FASHION WEEK! It doesn’t get better than that for a 16 year old girl!

How did your gown make you feel at the FORMAL? Like the most beautiful girl in the room, I’m sure!
It really was the most perfect gown. It required nothing more than confidence to wear it which Eva certainly felt.  It was flattering, glamorous & classy for a 16 year old, and that was confirmed by the many, many people who commented at formal & on social media saying how beautiful Eve looked, & how the red was THE perfect colour on her.

Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?Vanessa & her girls couldn’t have been more accommodating, it was a relaxed environment designed to meet all our needs. All correspondence was thoughtful, prompt & genuinely affectionate, these guys cared about our happiness & working with us over long distance. They got everything right….just look at that smile!

Any tips for our future FORMAL girls choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
Be confident that WFML will ensure you get what you are hoping for, or guide you in finding the right gown.
