When Freddie met Lilly Brides: Stevie
So please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly!?
In all honesty, there were a few hiccups in the morning before the ceremony from the groom losing track of time whilst eating lunch out with his groomsmen (lucky him!) to the car driver getting horrendously lost and making an illegal u-turn on the highway, cutting somebody off. These events are comical now, looking back, and in fact just increased the level of comfort that I felt when I saw my handsome groom standing at the end of the isle after I survived the car ride in. The rest of the day ran smoothly and was so relaxing!
Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
We booked a beautiful country venue in Toowoomba so we channelled an elegant country theme for the wedding. We had a lot of apricot and soft pink coloured roses with sprays of babys breath, and lace jars with candles in them. Our gifts were little pots of jam, which I just found adorable and thought matched the theme really well. Pinterest was definitely my best friend when planning our theme.
How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
Oh my gosh, where do I even start with my love for my dress? I absolutely loved it and it fit my theme perfectly. I had an idea of what style I wanted before I went to see the ladies from WFML, but it certainly changed!! In fact, the wedding dress that I chose, I wasn’t even going to try on! It was a last minute grab from the rack before I went downstairs to try on dresses and boy am I glad I grabbed it. Monica was absolutely amazing at giving really wonderful advice on each dress I tried on, and advising on how it could be altered/changed to suit my body shape and fit my vision. This really helped with making my decision in the end because I knew I was being listened to and it was going to be perfect.
Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
I helped my man choose his suit, although I’ll give him credit points for being pretty stylish so he would have probably picked it anyway. We put him and his groomsmen in lovely navy blue suits with a brown belt and brown shoes to finish it off. It really fit in with the elegant country theme, I felt anyway!
How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
My last minute grab dress was put to the back of the pile and was tried on last. I probably tried on 10+ gowns before I got to it without really feeling any ‘this is it’ moments, and once I had it on, I never wanted to take it off. You truly know that you’ve found your wedding dress when you feel like you’re a princess just from wearing what is essentially an item of clothing. My advice is to keep trying on dresses until you feel that way, because then you know you’ve truly found the one.
How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
Like a princess. It sat perfectly, and complemented my body shape. It was also super lightweight and comfortable, which made me feel more at ease with having it on for such a long period of time.
Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
Oh absolutely! They were more than amazing. It was so wonderful to know that they were on my side and communicating with me over anything that required my attention and keeping me in the loop with the progress of my dress constantly. I never had to ask them how things were going or pester them for information (which let’s face it, happens a little bit in wedding planning with certain things). You could definitely tell that the girls had my best intentions at heart. They have a knack of making you feel like you are the only customer that they have, even though that’s definitely not the case, which makes it more special. Their service is very personable whilst being completely professional and service oriented.
Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
Go with your gut, and don’t settle! If you put something on and you completely love it, then get it – regardless of others opinions. You may only get one wedding day, so make sure that your dress is absolutely everything thatyou’ve ever wanted, or else you will wish that you spoke up or got what you wanted. Also, go for a walk in the gowns that you try on to see if you can walk with ease and make sure that you can sit comfortably. Though youdon’t do much sitting on your wedding day, you don’t want to be uncomfortable when you finally get to rest your feet.
