When Freddie met Lilly Brides: Nicole

When Freddie met Lilly brides Nicole (2)So please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly !?
Our day was perfect. Is that even possible? Apart from the bride arriving before the groom, a few laps around the block and we were walking in close behind them to see all our guests eagerly awaiting our arrival. We were so lucky to have the help of some loved ones and suppliers to take care of all the details on the day and what a wonderful job they did.

Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
For our wedding we wanted to go for an elegant, modern glam wedding, with a touch of tradition. We had hues of silver, white/ivory; sequins and fairy lights.

How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
I first started looking, I thought that I wanted a long sleeve lace dress. Something mermaid, yet fitted. But after trying on a couple I knew it just wasn’t for me. From here my thoughts quickly changed. I think deep down what was really me, was something silk and embellished with jewels. None of the dresses had enough embellishments on them for me and I just couldn’t put my finger on what was missing.

The dress. Oh the dress. It was the showstopper. The chandelier among the room. I chose the Luca Gown, which was custom made to suit. When Ness at WFML left the Luca til the very last for me to try on, I think she (and we) all knew it was going to be special. My matron of honur actually found the Luca for me to try on. With a few customisations, including completing changing the material, I said yes to the dress!

WFML was the very last store on our list to attend and we nearly didn’t get there. But Ness directed us to the store and squeezed us in before her next appointment and boy am I glad she did!

Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
My hubby and I both agreed on 99.9% of our wedding. And the suits was one of those things! We both loved the navy suits. I went shopping with him in the first instance when he was looking – the first store he went to he was sold. A skinny navy uberstone. He also wanted a shiny cream vest (which was left up to him) and would you believe on the day when I arrived and saw him – his choice matched perfectly. Great minds think alike!

How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
I think I would of tried on 15+ dresses, mainly because my mother and grandmother were with me on my first shop so a few dresses were tried on as their picks.

How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
My Luca Gown made me feel like a royal princess. It was so delicate, soft and sparkly! (and heavy with all the jewels!) I felt so elegant and beautiful.

Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
Ness was amazing! I could not have asked for a better person to help find me the perfect dress. Not only did she make my mother, matron of honour and myself feel welcome, but I felt like we had met her before and she could not have been more helpful. From the moment we arrived and we were offered a drink, Ness kindly fitted us in to try on some dresses, even though appointments were due any minute. She took our custom changes and measurements and when I returned for fitting – it was perfect. Zipped up like a treat! I was so so happy.

Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
I would recommend they go straight to WFML. The selection and options to customise is everything you need!

Try on the ones you love first. You will either fall in love or find that it completely changes your mind of what you think you will have.

Don’t take too many people shopping with you – it can be overwhelming and frustrating trying to please everyone. And in the end its about you! IT will all come together and the perfect dress is out there. Smile and enjoy the journey. It’s such a special, fun part of your wedding and your life. 🙂
