When Freddie met Lilly Brides: Eliza-Jane
Eliza-Jane described her wedding to now hubby, Darius as “very intimate and a true reflection of our couple style. We had 22 people in total and we said I do at the Registry office. I did a lot of DIY projects and styled the whole day to give it our personal touch. We are in no way a cookie cutter/traditional couple and our theme definitely showed that. Our day was all about keeping it real and romantic. We just wanted to celebrate!” Below she tells us about her experience with the When Freddie met Lilly girls…”
So please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly!?
Yes! It ran perfectly 🙂 We were all just so calm and excited and it seemed like nothing could ruin the moment. We just were too busy celebrating with champagne to even know if the timing wasn’t right :)I think we ended up going over time with our Limousine hire time because we were having so much fun getting photos taken but luckily the company was great about it!
Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
We had a lot of marble, rose gold and nude touches and of course it was filled with candles! And of course I had Peonies too.
How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
My dress was absolutely perfect!! Honestly I was so in love with how it made me feel and it definitely suited our wedding. I knew that I wanted lace in some aspect but I didn’t go in to see Vanessa with my heart set on any one particular style. I think this is what made it so special for me as we were able to explore all ideas and there were no disappointments.
Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
He had some say (like the tiniest bit) haha. We both knew we didn’t want a traditional suit. Because he is so beautifully tanned with dark features I always said I wanted him in a sand or nude jacket and mismatched pants. We were so casual about his outfit and didn’t end up looking until the week before our wedding!! But we found exactly what I was after which was amazing! He ended up with navy chino style pants and a lovely sand coloured cotton jacket and a white shirt. I had already found his burgundy bow tie so thankfully it worked as I had envisioned. I wanted the groomsman to tie in but not match so they both had pale blue bow ties with their white shirts and tan pants. My lovely bridesmaids were in nude tie any way dresses that we styled differently for them both. It was perfect but not matchy matchy 🙂
How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
Vanessa at WFML was my first stop on my hunt for the perfect dress and I didn’t end up going anywhere else after that! I think it was only 3 dresses that I tried on in total and I ended up designing my stunning gown with Vanessa after falling in love with the top of one of her gowns. It was actually very funny as I was standing there with Vanessa and my two Bridesmaids wearing 3 different gowns at once trying to design the ultimate Eliza gown. I looked hilarious but I was very calm and I just had that feeling that this was it and there was no looking back from there.
How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
I felt so wonderful! Like a Queen! It was everything I had hoped for and it was really very comfortable as well! I actually didn’t want to take it off and it makes me a little sad that I don’t get to wear it again. Maybe I will try it on again one day just for the special memories 🙂
Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
They were absolutely fabulous! They really were! I always felt so comfortable with the girls and they answered any questions I had and even offered advice on the best places to go and eat while we were visiting Brisbane. The girls always accommodated around my schedule and always made the time to ensure I was satisfied. They have become a very special part of my wedding memories.
Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
I would say to go in with an open mind and try not to set your heart on anything prior to trying dresses on. I say this because it can take the pressure off and really let you enjoy this special moment. Another reason is that you never know what that dress will look like on you and its always better to save disappointment as it might just not be right for you. I really believe that the dress speaks to you and you get a real feeling when it is right! Just go with your own gut feeling and don’t let anyone else’s opinions deter you from something you love. At the end of the day it is about you and no one else! Well maybe your hubby to be haha but he doesn’t get a say in the dress 🙂
