When Freddie met Lilly Brides: Delena
It’s a busy time of year for the ladies behind When Freddie met Lilly as the Grade 12 Students complete their final year of school and celebrate with an end-of-year graduation… It’s also a crazy time of year with many weddings coinciding with the holiday season. As the weather begins to warm and everyone seems to slow down in preparation for some much needed down-time, it’s a beautiful season for our Brides Big Day! To follow on from our last blog – we have a little questionnaire with another one of our stunning When Freddie met Lilly brides, Delena!
Delena’s Big Day!
So please tell us, how did you meet the man of your dreams !?
We actually met online which was very strange for both of us! We found out that we had lived a few minutes from each other for our whole lives and even had a number of mutual friends. We clicked straight away and have been inseparable ever since.
For all our readers out there, where was the venue for your wedding held?
We had our wedding at Coronation Hall at Somerset Dam. I came across the hall on a wedding photographer’s blog and I fell in love with the look and character of the hall. We had our ceremony at a country chapel just outside the town. It was a gorgeous area and the scenery was beautiful!
Who was your photographer? And was it important aspect for you to capture the day’s event of your BIG DAY? Which images were most important to you?
Our photographer was Dan and Lucy Photographers. Photography was a very important aspect of our day and picking the right photographer was a must. We met with Dan and Lucy and they were not only fun and laidback but their work was amazing. We wanted images that conveyed how we were feeling in that moment. We wanted candid photos, lots of photos of our guests and ones that captured the moment.
We had an ‘unplugged ceremony’ for two reasons I wanted our guests to be present in the moment and be able to enjoy rather than worry about taking photos and I also wanted to be able to walk down the aisle and see their faces rather than screens and cameras. The candid natural shots are the ones that I love the most and Dan and Lucy were amazing at blending right in and most of the time we didn’t even know that they were there taking photos.
They have taken the most gorgeous photos that we will be able to treasure forever!
So tell us, how was your BIG DAY!? We feel so privileged we could be apart of such a special day.
It was amazing! The only complaint is how quickly it all happened! We had so much fun and so did all our guests which is what we wanted our wedding to be. It was really important for us to include our family and friends as much as possible and create a party atmosphere that would bring everyone together. Our live band achieved this on the night and kept the dance floor and the party going. We asked all our guests to bring along a piece of fabric that meant something to them that we are going to create a quilt out of. Which we are really excited to get finished!
When searching for your Wedding Gown, were you following the latest trends for Bridal wear or were you looking for the more traditional look?
To be honest I didn’t really have any expectations of how I wanted to look. There are so many different trends that made choosing one particular trend hard. Monica and Vanessa are so skilled at what they do they made the whole process so simple and easy.
Which Gown did you choose from When Freddie met Lilly’s Bridal Gown Collection? WasFreddie When met Lilly helpful during what can be quite a stressful time in the lead up to the big day?
I chose the Sabene Gown. The girls were all too happy to help with all our questions and problems. The first bridesmaid dress ended up not working out and without hesitation Vanessa organised another appointment to choose a new dress and exchanged the dresses. It made what might have been a stressful time very easy to deal with. While trying on the bridal gowns Monica was able to tell me what accessories went best with each dress and also had vendors that could assist. She was honest with her opinions on each dress which I loved!
How did you know this dress was ‘the one’ for your special day?
It was the standout dress for me throughout the whole process. I spent hours looking at all the gorgeous dressed on the website but I kept coming back to this dress. It was different but not too different and I absolutely LOVED the back of the dress. The way that I felt when I wore this dress compared to the others I just knew it was the one that I wanted. People always said “you will know when you find ‘the dress’” and they were right!
Any tips, for the future brides searching that perfect dress?
Enjoy the whole process; it should be a fun experience! Go with the dress that YOU like.
