When Freddie met Lilly Brides: Anna
Anna Smith was married in Bali just 3 weeks ago and says she had the “most amazing day”. She sincerely thanks the girls at When Freddie met Lilly for creating her stunning Valentina Gown and tells us about everything from planning to her big day with her hubby overseas!
So please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly !?
The day was more incredible than we ever could have dreamed of. We both had such a great day and night and hope our guests had as much fun as we did!
Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
We always said we wanted to have a very casual and low- key wedding by the beach. We got married in Bali, overlooking the ocean. We didn’t have a theme as such but always said we wanted casual boho style yet still classy. It was a relaxed day and the location was so beautiful that we didn’t need much in the way of decorations etc.
How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
I always knew I wanted lace on my dress as I’ve always loved lace. About 6 months before the wedding I tried on a few at some bridal shops however just found them not me. They were either too poofy or too blingy or too heavy- beautiful but not in line with our relaxed Bali wedding idea. I googled a few dresses and stumbled across whenfreddiemetlily. I saw some images on the website that I liked and emailed Vanessa immediately. What I loved was how quickly Vanessa replied and how flexible she was. I remember she said we can alter any dress to my liking and add bling or take bling off, or have one top with a different bottom which I loved the idea of. After meeting her and trying on several dresses we decided on the one. She was great at offering honest advice and was so lovely and bubbly and flexible with what I wanted that the decision was easy!!
Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
As we were married in Bali and knew the weather would be hot and we knew our wedding would be quite relaxed my husband didn’t actually wear a suit. Instead he had a white shirt with trousers.
How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
Hmmm… I probably tried on about 10 dresses at different shops and probably tried on about 4-5 at WFML.
How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
Gown was perfect for the day. It was so light which made it so easy to take on the plane and travel with, so good for the hot weather in Bali. It was also so comfortable!
Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
Girls from WFML were amazing! Vanessa was so bubbly and friendly and kind and when I was tossing up between two dresses- both very different- she gave me her honest advice which I am so thankful for because she was right! As I was down in Brisbane for work and shopping for the dress on my own, it was fantastic having her there to offer me her expert advice.
Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
Don’t get too hung up or stressed about any of it. Definitely go to WFML and see what they have but at the end of the day if you and your future husband are there at the alter then that’s the only thing that matters 🙂
