WFML Real Brides: Kimberley
Such a down-to-earth and bohemian style bride – Kimberley wore a When Freddie met Lilly two piece to marry her sweetheart, Jake. Read about her short 4 month engagement and how to girls helped her to make those wedding dress dreams come true.
So please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly!?
We planned the wedding within 4 months – it was a little bit hectic but we ticked everything off our list and managed to stick as close to budget as possible. The day ran smoothly and according to plan – everything was amazing and everyone went above and beyond for us. There was one or two tiny speed bumps but in the big scheme but they were too little to sweat over so I just acknowledged and accepted that it was the way it was. For example, the handmade greenery decorations for the pews in the chapel weren’t hung up instead the event planner hung up white bows – which i wasn’t a fan of.
Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
We went for a contemporary styled wedding. It did have some traditional concepts through out such as, a white dress, a chapel for the ceremony and tea and coffee with cake at the reception. But we customised the day to suit ourselves. My dress was a modern two-piece (showing midriff). Both my mom and dad walked me up the isle, my husband’s grandmother prayed for and blessed us during the ceremony. For the reception everyone’s speeches were capped to 2 minutes or less and the food was a banquet style with share platters.
How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
Before I had chosen my wedding dress I did have a few ideas in mind of what I liked but also had a huge priority of keeping costs down to a budget. The girls at WFML were awesome at working with my ideas, desires and budget. The dress I ended up with was not what I expected but I absolutely loved it and loved how the girls there were able to customise pieces for me.
Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
My man did choose his suit (in collaboration with me for an idea first). He went to Michael Innis Menswear. We went with no tie or bow tie, just a vest. This kept within the more modernised theme, less traditioinal and more swag.
Kimberley, how many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
I had gone to a total of 3 stores, WFML was the second vendor i tried and the final one i went back to. I had tried on probably 15+ dresses (THAT DAY) and narrowed my choices down to 3 (with the 3rd being an idea i hadn’t tried on yet). In the end I went with WMFL because of their great service, their ability to customise and the great cost. I just jumped in to it and ran with it.
How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
I had a lot of great feedback on the day from people who loved it and some people who had said they had never seen a dress like it before. Everyone loved our day and so did I, I was at peace the entire time. I was comfortable in my dress and trusting that everything was happening as it should be and so just embraced the day.
Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
The girls at WFML were super helpful, had amazing service, made me feel excited, comfortable, and aware of what to expect. I was on a very tight timeline with 4 months to plan the wedding and they worked with me to ensure that I could choose one and get it made in time (without any extra fees). My bridesmaid dresses were from Europe and even though I didn’t get them from WFML they fitted the dresses to my bridesmaids happily. Their service was 100% better than the service I had experienced from the other 2 vendors I had gone to.
Kimberley, any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
I would say make sure you get on to it as soon as possible, do your research and try things on! I have found that even though you like something you won’t really know until you try it on. Time is of the essence and booking can fill up fast so just make the booking and embrace the process 🙂
