WFML Real Bride: Rachelle
Not even a cyclone could put a dampener on Rachelle’s Big Day plans. Her incredible gown and the love she shares make her images some of our most treasured yet. Read about her story below.
So please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly!?
Definitely not hahaha. We were married the weekend of Cyclone Debbie and it was definitely a wedding that no one will forget! The highway was closed at Tweed Heads from Friday morning to Saturday afternoon so we pushed our ceremony to 5:30pm and our parents (as well as a few guests) were helicoptered in by my parents. In the end only 9 people didn’t make it which was pretty extraordinary considering that at 1pm on Saturday we had 7 guests attending! Our loved ones braved flood waters and spent two days on the road trying to get to us….needless to say we definitely felt the love!
Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
We themed our wedding with a boho vintage style and had a lovely mix of traditional and contemporary wedding ideas.
How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
I really wanted a dress with delicate lace and thought I wanted a chiffon style skirt. This all changed when I saw Vanessa at WFML – I feel in love wearing the amazing tulle Selena skirt and paired it with a custom bespoke lace top….it was everything I never knew I wanted in my dress!
Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
Pete is a very stylish dresser…particularly when it comes to suits so I wasn’t worried! I just asked that his suits be navy to compliment the bridesmaid dresses and he took care of the rest. He wouldn’t let me know any details about the suits….he said it was only fair!
How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
I went to one other bridal store before WFML and then two afterwards. I came back the same day to re-try on the dress and I knew it was the one!
How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
I felt really beautiful and special in my dress. I loved that no one else would ever have the exact same dress as mine and that made it even more amazing.
Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
Helpful is too small a word for how amazing Vanessa and the girls are at WFML. I never felt like a number and the whole team knew who I was and what my dress looked like. They understand how busy brides are and fantastic scheduling fittings. The fittings themselves were amazing….! Vanessa never charges extra for fittings and her attention to detail is second to none.
Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
Trust your gut and how you feel when you try a dress on – if you aren’t 100% then try another. Also, don’t regret different styles – give everything a go at least once so you know what you really love. Sometimes you will surprise yourself and go with something you didn’t quite expect. Be sure you work with a team that treats you like a person and not just a number.
