WFML Real Bride: Lucy
The story of Lucy’s gold sequin gown for her Big Day is so adorable! Read about the divine couple below.
So please tell us, Lucy – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly!?
The day ran so smoothly – we were very blessed! I think a big part of that was our decision to do photos before the ceremony, this meant that we were super relaxed for the big moment. We also kept formalities to a minimum which meant that we could maximise the amount of time spent partying and catching up with friends and family.
Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
There was no specific theme, we tried to keep it as relaxed as possible. The venue where we had the ceremony and reception (Blackbird) is so beautiful that we let the decoration and spectacular views speak for themselves!
How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
The story of the dress actually has quite a history! The night that Mitchell and I met I was wearing a sparkly gold skirt and friend’s started nicknaming it “the” gold skirt. A few months after we started dating I decided that if I were ever to marry Mitchell it would be in a full length, gold sparkly dress. When it came to start trying dresses, I did toy with the idea of having a more traditional dress but when I tried on my Cyanna gown, it was just perfect!
Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
Mitchell is a very smart guy and knows to not choose anything without my approval 😛
How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
Not many at all really. My Mum and I scheduled a day where we planned to try on heaps of dresses but to be honest it was not as fun as I thought it would be. When Freddie Met Lily was the only place that made me feel welcome and made me feel special – like a bride. The service we received at other boutiques was really disappointing. Thank goodness for you guys!
How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
There was no better feeling than picking up my dress once it had been fitted and altered, the dress made me feel amazing and it was so comfortable! Even though the design was form-fitting there was plenty of room for me to move, dance and have fun. Vanessa had also suggested a wrist holder for the train which was such a God send on the day.
Lucy, where the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
YES. So helpful and so patient. The whole experience was fun and special, right from when we arrived and were offered a glass of bubbles. I felt no pressure to limit the amount of gowns I was trying on or ask any questions. I came in 3 times in total before I said ‘yes to the dress’ which was so gracious considering that compared to other dresses it was relatively inexpensive.
