WFML Real Bride: Louise
Louise felt so comfortable on her wedding day in her When Freddie met Lilly Gown that she forgot what she was in fact wearing! Read about her journey to The Dress here.
So please tell us, Louise, – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly!?
We were engaged in New York in September 2015, and married in April 2017, so we had a lot of time to plan. We just worked together to chip away at everything over the months, and it all came together beautifully! Everything was perfect on the big day. We ended up having to delay the start of the ceremony by half an hour and, because we did, we ended up taking our photos with the most extraordinary sunset behind the trees. It couldn’t have worked out more perfectly.
Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
Will & I had very similar ideas about our wedding from the beginning. All we really wanted on our wedding day was to get married – which thankfully happened! – and to have a fabulous party with all those we love. The styling wasn’t really at the forefront of our mind – we just wanted fun and colourful. By keeping this in mind with every decision we made, everything worked together beautifully.
How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
I knew I wanted something quite classic, and I knew I loved lace, but other than that I didn’t really know what I wanted my dress to be. Vanessa was great, and gave me lots of options that fit in with this vague idea, and as soon as I tried my dress on, and saw how beautiful, and felt how comfortable and easy to wear it was, I knew it was the one!
Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
Will chose his suit with his best men. We’d had a chat about him wearing a blue suit, and then when I saw the tie that he had chosen I was so excited because, just like so many elements of our wedding, everything came together effortlessly and it matched the blush coloured skirt of my dress perfectly.
How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
I tried on a few at other shops before I came to WFML and, while all the other dresses were beautiful, they just weren’t right for me. I think the dress I chose was the third one I tried on at WFML. I tried a few others on afterwards, to see if I would love any as much, but I was sold pretty much immediately!
How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
My gown was just perfect. It made me feel so beautiful, and it was so comfortable that I forgot I was wearing something so stunning!
Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
The girls from WFML were just wonderful. They were relaxed and helpful, and everything with the dress was just so easy. I was a little anxious about finding a dress that I loved, and was worried I might be pushed into buying something that I didn’t feel was right, but these fears were completely unfounded!
Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
