WFML Real Bride: Kate
Kate and Adrian had a beautiful Rustic/Romantic themed wedding. And for her wedding gown Kate knew exactly what she wanted. Read below how she found the dress of her dreams at When Freddie met Lilly in Brisbane.
So please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly!?
Our wedding went exactly to plan. Only a small gathering of 18 (including Bridal Party) at Flaxton Gardens in Montville. We were married on a Tuesday – so all suppliers we wished for were fortunately available. We planned everything 6 months in advance and there was absolutely not one moment of stress or concern about our day.
Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
Our wedding was themed Rustic/Romantic. Neither myself nor Adrian are ‘traditional’ people but still wanted to maintain the intimacy and romance of a wedding.
How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
My dress was my ‘something new’ and turned out exactly like the image I had in my head 6 months ago when I visited WFML. My mother had full lace and sleaves in her dress and I always loved that. When I knew I was to find a dress I was fortunate enough to have had a sister who was a bride not long before me. She had WFML website and I knew immediately that I would find my gown there. I didn’t bother looking anywhere else.
Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
Adrian and I went together to visit George from Black Jacket Suits in Milton. By this stage I already had my gown chosen and in the process of being made. I also had the colour Navy in mind so I simply put my trust in George to put my man in a suit that made him feel special. Adrian is a tradie – so I really wanted him to wear a suit that makes him feel great rather than out of his comfort zone. George accommodated for this immediately. Adrian and his Groomsmen looked incredibly handsome.
How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
At WFML I tried approximately 5 dresses that fit the ‘lace, long sleeves’ idea. From these 5 it came down to two that I loved. One because of it’s lace and the other because of its cut. So Vanessa and her beautiful staff were incredibly helpful and genuinely wanted me to wear the gown that I had in my mind that they allowed me to put the lace I loved on the gown I loved and the rest is history.
How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
Like an absolute queen! I felt royal in a sense. I couldn’t thank WFML staff enough.
Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
Extremely helpful and accommodating in what can certainly be a consuming process. However I knew I was in capable hands and trusted the professionals whole heartedly.
Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
It is different for every bride. I already had an idea in mind so I went with the designers that aligned with my vision. It is important to be sure of what looks good on your body then from there trust the professionals. Although I had a picture in mind I was still very open to possibilities for example, I went for a ¾ sleeve instead of full length which was suggested to me early on in the process. I am incredibly grateful for the time and effort staff of WFML put into my gown. There is a lot of love within the lace. The special touch which not many people knew at the wedding is that the lace used on my gown was from Italy – and my husband is Italian. So this was also a special touch that makes my gown even more special to me.
