WFML Real Bride: Georgia
Our real bride Georgia wanted a dress that’s wasn’t too over-the-top and that was very elegant/timeless. Read below how she found the dress of her dreams at When Freddie met Lilly.
So Georgia, please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly!?
We had exactly a year to plan the big day. Everything went pretty much exactly to plan, and all the little things that you think are really important (like where the welcome sign is) don’t really matter on the day.
Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
We went for a more contemporary style as this was fitting with the venue (High Church). We took inspiration from the spring season and tried to incorporate a lot of colour through our flowers. Nan from Gardenbird Flowers did an absolutely amazing job with plenty of pinks, oranges and a hint of yellow in the flower arrangements, which complemented the sky blue table runners perfectly.
How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
The Dress fit in to our theme perfectly. It was exactly the right mix of modern (with the low back and simplicity of the dress) and classic (with the pearl edging). I knew I wanted a dress than wasn’t too over-the-top and that was very elegant/timeless. When I saw the Saphira gown on the website, I loved it straight away and it was the first dress I picked to try on!
Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
Tom and his six (!!!) groomsmen were actually all in a wedding party together last year so they had matching navy suits. I love a navy suit so it worked very well. They wore pale pink ties which complimented the bridesmaids chiffon skirts and it all looked beautiful!
How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
It was the first dress I tried on and I fell in love with it straight away! I tried on another 15 or so dresses just in case, but kept coming back to the Saphira gown.
How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
The gown is 100% silk and felt absolutely incredible! I felt so elegant and received dozens of compliments. It was also ridiculously comfortable and easy to dance in once the train was pinned up.
Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
Vanessa from When Freddie met Lilly was amazing and would always give me her full attention. Even when they were busy I didn’t feel rushed at all. It was by far the best customer service I experienced out of all the dress shops I went to.
Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
I would recommend trying on dresses in lots of different styles – you might be surprised by what suits you! Even though the Saphira gown was the first dress I tried on, I kept looking just to reassure myself that it was the one and this gave me peace of mind. I also think it is important to choose your venue before the dress as this may influence the style of the day and therefore your dress choice.
