WFML Real Bride: Ash
Ash exuded charm and elegance in her Vivienne Gown by When Freddie met Lilly on her Big Day. Read about her story to the dress below.
So Ash, please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly!?
After about 18 months of planning our special day finally arrived and everything went absolutely perfectly. The only thing that went wrong was the menus not being printed double sided, and not realising until the day before. I kept thinking in the back of my mind something else would happen because of all the warnings I’d received, but nothing ever did! We were very lucky indeed! It was a day of pure love and happiness, everything that we ever wanted it to be. A day that we will remember for the rest of our lives.
Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
Matt and I wanted to go with a more romantic, classy atmosphere on our wedding day. We stuck with a white and gold theme, with lots of greenery and candles. The set up at our reception at Mirra was just perfect. The venue itself is so beautifully decorated, so we didn’t need to go over the top with our own styling. The the venue was a perfect match for my gown too, it complemented the vintage look so nicely.
How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
We had already booked our wedding venues prior to beginning the hunt for the perfect dress, so I had a good idea about the style of dress I wanted. I knew I was after something with lace detail and a nice flowing skirt. I had actually pinned the dress I ended up choosing on my pinterest board before I went to any shops. I didn’t even realise the connection until after I had said ‘yes to the dress’.
Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
I gave Matt full ownership of the suit he choose. He never restricted me to the type of dress I could have, so it wouldn’t of been fair to do the same to him. As it was I loved the suit he chose, and I think we looked like a perfect match on the day.
How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
I was so lucky with my dress hunt! When Freddie Met Lilly was actually the first shop I visited, and after only trying on two dresses Vanessa stated that she knew the dress I was after… and she was right! Lucky number three was just perfect for me. I fell in love with the lace detail on the top and the gorgeous train on the skirt. I went to a few other places just to be sure, but nothing compared to the beautiful Vivienne gown.
How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
I felt truly beautiful in my dress and was so happy with my completed look after the belt and veil were added on. My gown was comfortable and very easy to walk in, plus it didn’t feel heavy like a lot of wedding gowns can. I wouldn’t of changed a thing about my dress!
Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
So helpful! I was able to add extra lace detail to the hemline of the skirt on my dress and all the fittings were arranged so quickly and easily once the gown was made. I had such a stress free wedding dress experience because of Vanessa and her amazing team.
Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
Trust your instincts- you know how you feel in a dress and about how you look, so be true to how you are feeling. Don’t take too many people with you- it is quite tiring trying on dress after dress, and you don’t need too many people their with conflicting opinions!
