WFML Real Bride: Ali

You know Ali had such an amazing time on her Big Day in a When Freddie met Lilly gown because we got an email asking for dry-cleaning details… she had partied the night away and had so much fun that her train came away a little grey! Read below how Ali says that dancing was one of the most important and fun things about her wedding.

WFML Real Bride AliSo Ali, please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly!?
It went wonderfully! Until the massive thunderstorm during cocktail hour that is… Made for some fantastic candid shots of use and the guests though! Our objective for the whole wedding was that at the end of the day nothing else mattered except that we got married and had fun (both of which went off without a hitch)

Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
We didn’t go for ‘theme’ – we really just wanted a day that was relaxed and fun in beautiful surroundings

How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
I always wanted a dress the would let me feel not only beautiful but comfortable as well – I wanted to make sure I could relax while wearing it.  I had a fairly good idea about what  I wanted but the girls at WFML were great at getting me to try a range and then letting me mix and match the parts I loved from different dresses to end up with The Dress by the end…

WFML Real Bride AliDid your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
Hahaha Pete wasn’t sure what he was wearing right up until a few weeks before the wedding! He was always leaning towards wearing a newish suit he already owned but I think felt he obliged to buy something brand new.  In the end it was more important for him to be relaxed and comfortable in a suit we know he loves than to stress about getting something brand new in a rush.

How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
I went to 3 or 4 different dress shops and even though I was fairly sure I knew what I wanted I let my mother and bridesmaids choose lots of different styles for me so I would have tried on 6 or 7 at each shop.  Admittedly I was surprised at how much I liked some of the dresses they picked for me (which I never would have chosen for myself)

WFML Real Bride AliHow did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
The thing I loved most about my dress was the freedom it gave me! It fit me so well that I felt so beautiful and comfortable all day.  I never had to worry about how I was standing, sitting or dancing because no matter what it looked amazing.

Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
They were fantastic. They spent time talking with me about what I was looking for then worked with me to create the perfect dress.  They also made sure I tried on multiple styles they knew I would like to make sure I was making the best decision.  Most importantly the delicious bubbles they served us on the visits ended up being the same sparkling we served at our wedding – trust me, deciding on a wine list at a BYO venue can be quite stressful!

Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
Make sure you find a dress that you not only look amazing in but also feel like you can be yourself – you’re going to wear this thing for 12 hours or more and you want to make sure you can sit, stand, EAT, DRINK and DANCE in it.
