WFML-Bride: Mary

wfml-bride Mary and Michael 2016Mary Campbell married her sweetheart Michael in her dream dress from When Freddie met Lilly. She says: “I got so many compliments on the day and I felt so special and beautiful in it.  A special thanks to Monica for helping to make it all happen – you are a star!!”

So please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly!?
It was 9 months between engagement and the wedding day.  It all went very smoothly.  We went for a pretty simple ceremony and reception and I think that meant less could go wrong!

Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
There wasn’t a “theme”, but we went with whites and greens with a hint of gold to set-off the industrial feel of the Brisbane Powerhouse. Simple, yet romantic and timeless.

How did The Dress fit into your theme? Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?
I went into dress fittings with an open mind!  From attending friends’ dress fittings I knew that something that looked amazing in the picture and on someone else doesn’t mean it was made for you.  I tried on  poofy, simple, blingy and everything in between.  The WFML girls let me try on whatever I wanted which made it easier to set aside those that did and didn’t work.  I went for simple elegance with a V-neck and open back lace gown.  I added a little bling on the shoulders, as I wanted that extra special little touch.  It went perfectly with the overall look and feel of our day.

Did your man choose his Suit? Or with some guidance did you help him? Did his suit compliment your gown? (or was it the other way around hehe).
Before trying on suits, we already had a colour in mind.  It was just a matter of finding a comfortable suit in that colour!  I went along to his fittings, but it was really by chance that the first suit he tried on was the one he ended up going with.  He looked so handsome on the day and I think we complimented each other well.

How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?
I probably tried on close to 20, but in the same fashion as my man’s suit, it happened to be the first dress I tried on @ WFML that was the one!

How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?
I felt so beautiful on the day.  The gown was so comfortable too!  I got so many compliments from friends and family that it truly made me feel like a Princess on the day.

Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?
Super helpful! Monica was amazing.  Everything was so effortless and stress-free.

Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?
Have an open mind and have a budget!  It can be so easy to get carried away thinking the dress that costs more is going to be the better choice.  At WFML you can make simple changes to the style to make the gown YOUR unique dress that is different from anyone elses.  That made the dress and experience even more special.
