Fun Flamingo Wedding Theme Ideas
Flamingos are one of the most unique animals in nature. With their long necks, thin funny-formed legs, and shocking pink feathers, they’re cute…adorable and very tropical. And they remind us of the beach and the sun. But a flamingo wedding theme? No, not weird…but different, and soooo very cheerful! In a bohemian or beach celebration, indoors or outdoors…the flamingos have been appearing all over lately, and it’s no surprise that we here at When Freddie met Lilly, just adore them!
Stationery for your flamingo wedding
Get creative and give your guests a sneak peek of your theme by adding flamingo illustrations to your invitations. Or at least give them a subtle clue by going for splashes of hot pink and palm leaves. Additionally, pull the same colour and style through to your place names, table numbers, etc.
Your adorable flamingo decor
Be ready for some fun, “full of colour” and over-the-top decor! Repeat the flamingo theme with bright pink touches, everywhere in your decor. On top of that, add the fabulous flamingos who bring a whimsical feel to your wedding. Think flamingo decor with pink details on small bouquets, flamingo-style decorations tied to the end of your wedding chairs, or soft pink pom-poms and lots of greenery.
Fun flamingo statues is the way to go if you’re blessed with lots of outdoor space. Place them outside, at the start of, or along the aisle, or just about anywhere to repeat your flamingo theme. Go further and crown a pink flamingo with a wreath of lovely bright flowers!
If you have your ceremony or reception at a glamorous venue with a pool, why not choose a pink flamingo pool float with fabulous flamingo-shaped balloons that is fun and festive, but stylish and sophisticated.. Just make sure the weather is on your side!
We here at When Freddy met Lilly just love the mix of pink and greenery by the sea of course! And a wedding with a flamingo theme can easily be combined with a beach venue (which is ideal). Decorate the aisle of the ceremony with palms and monstera leaves draped over the sand, and you just have to use beautiful arrangements with exotic fruits and flowers. Have pineapples (natural or coloured), tropical flowers or any seasonal pink flower you think fits the theme, with an exotic flower arch by the end of the aisle. Then there is also the choice of a beautiful roof with stunning sea views for a wedding ceremony, if you like.
Tropical table setting and food
Just by placing 2 items together, like a base of a pineapple with pink flowers inside and a leaf of monstera underneath, you have your exotic table theme! A cheery pink flamingo decorated with staches of flowers and greenery would also be a great centrepiece for your wedding tables. And don’t forget to add some coloured glassware, dishware and napkins.
Have a welcoming dessert table with cupcakes and juice in view where the guests enter the venue.
And have you thought about the summer cocktails for your special day? A great idea is to have an open bar where your guests could get their tropical coctails from (or the one you made for them to drink.) Accessorize your drink station with whimsical, bright pink flamingo straws, for that extra touch. Or put flamingo stir sticks out for the guests. Whether you’re celebrating by the beach or on a rustic ranch nowhere near that, with these additions your guests will feel they’re in a tropical paradise!
Treat them to a flamingo-decorated cake or cupcakes with delicious-looking pink icing. Your guests will forever remember the cute flamingo-shaped sugar cookies. Add them to the dessert table, or wrap them in clear cellophane as their little gift to take home.
If you have a lounge for chilling out, how about decorating the coffeetables with stylish mini neon flamingo signs.
Entertainment and photos with the flamingos
You could always provide a DIY garden game with a tropical twist, to help keeping your guests entertained. Simply make use of a few flamingo lawn ornaments and some plastic rings to create a festive game in which they throw hoops over the flamingo’s neck.
Don’t forget to decorate your DIY photo booth with flamingos as well, if not with flowers. Use balloons not only along the aisle, and dotted in every corner of your venue, but also as props for your wedding photo’s.
Your free-flowing wedding dresses
Most important for your big day is your wedding dress. We here at When Freddie met Lilly recommend simple lines, also anything free, with lace or knitted, like the bohemian style, which our designers here at When Freddy met Lilly specialize in! Have a look at any dresses from our Dakota range, our latest collection for the bohemian bride. It is an elegant yet modern range of gowns using Italian & French laces, hand embellishments and soft silks, and have some stunning seperates for you to mix and match. Also have a look at our Valentina collection here at When Freddie met Lilly in Brisbane, which is also a bohemian range. Our Xanadu lace gown, or the Veronica gown are perfect gowns for a beach or garden wedding.
For your bridesmaid dresses check out the incredible emerald-colour Milla Maxi dress for an example, which you can tie in different ways (Tie the back as a “cross back” or T-Bar), or search for any other tropical, emerald green or jade green dress.
Round your flamingo look off
If you dare to take the chance, a flamingo ‘tattooed’ on you as the wife-to-be’s arm, will definitely attract a lot of attention and add to the fun!
You don’t have to go al pink when it comes to your bridal bouquet. Play with the soft pinks, and rather give emphasis to a vibrant flower halo, like our Buttercup flower crown here at When Freddie met Lilly.
As you can see, there are heaps of fun flamingo wedding ideas and unique ways in which you can be true to the popular flamingo themed wedding. The choices are yours!
