wfml at the australian bridal fashion week (ABFW) - Indiana collection 2016Where did the inspiration for the ‘Indiana’ collection come from?
We we’re inspired from the juxtaposition of vintage and contemporary fashions as well as incredible muses. We take elements and personality traits from some of Hollywood’s most elegant women. Anyone from Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn to Margot Robbie and Naomi Watts tend to grace our sketchpad as we design and influence our collections. The ‘Indiana’ gowns almost have an ethereal Grecian inspired look that is oh-so dreamy.

How long was the process of designing the “Indiana collection” to seeing it on the runway?
Vanessa began designing the Indiana Collection after New York in October 2015 and final production changes were finalised in May 2016.

When Freddie met Lilly Formal Girl Eva (2)So please tell us – with months of planning, did the FORMAL run smoothly !?
We had a few days in Brisbane, visiting from Central Qld, in which we were able to secure an appointment with WFML to begin our formal dress search. We didn’t need to look any further (as her mother my relief was enormous!), the amount of choice in colour, style and design was beyond belief!

Of course on the night Eva felt & looked like the happiest girl in the world. She shone because her dress was everything we hoped for & the compliments were endless. What I can appreciate most is Vanessa’s designs encompass a fit not only for the super slim but also the voluptuous and compliment either beautifully.

When Freddie met Lilly brides Nicole (2)So please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly !?
Our day was perfect. Is that even possible? Apart from the bride arriving before the groom, a few laps around the block and we were walking in close behind them to see all our guests eagerly awaiting our arrival. We were so lucky to have the help of some loved ones and suppliers to take care of all the details on the day and what a wonderful job they did.

Was your wedding themed? Did you and your hubby go for a traditional feel or more contemporary style?
For our wedding we wanted to go for an elegant, modern glam wedding, with a touch of tradition. We had hues of silver, white/ivory; sequins and fairy lights.

when freddie met lilly formal girl janelle (1)In this edition of When Freddie met Lilly girls, we chat to our beautiful formal client, Janelle. Here is what she had to say:

Who knew that planning for formal was such a stressful task? I certainly didn’t! Don’t even get me started on how even more stressful the day of formal is, but nevertheless, I definitely had one of the best nights of my life! It was such an amazing experience that I will forever cherish with me and my closest friends!

I have chosen to wear the Sabella Stretch Gown in RedI think red is just one of those colours that will match pretty much every person while still keeping it simple and elegant. For my hair, I just had my hair down in curly waves with a soft smokey eye look. For my accessories, I kept it plain with silver jewellery to match my belt and a white clutch. Again, I love having the idea of keeping everything simple but elegant; I think it just makes the whole look sophisticated and classy.

australian-bridal-fashion-week Australian Bridal Fashion Week (ABFW) is the first event of its kind for the Australian wedding market. So please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly !?
Our wedding was perfect. Everything ran smoothly and honestly, I had no stress leading up to the wedding and especially not on the day. I enjoyed the whole process and actually miss planning a wedding now that it’s over! We booked our venue 12 months before we got married so that was the perfect planning time for me.

aztec themed wedding camille gown wfmlToday’s weddings are much more individualized than in years past. There are no rules or traditions that absolutely must be followed (in most cases) and when it comes to themes, designs and  styles, the sky is the limit.

A growing trend for modern weddings is to incorporate personality, tradition and vintage style together to create a special celebration that will be remembered for years to come.

While there are many aspects to planning a wedding, and dozens of details to take care of, most people would agree that a wedding gown is one of the most important and should be chosen with care. Your wedding gown is not something to be chosen lightly.

So please tell us – with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly!?

In all honesty, there were a few hiccups in the morning before the ceremony from the groom losing track of time whilst eating lunch out with his groomsmen (lucky him!) to the car driver getting horrendously lost and making an illegal u-turn on the highway, cutting somebody off. These events are comical now, looking back, and in fact just increased the level of comfort that I felt when I saw my handsome groom standing at the end of the isle after I survived the car ride in. The rest of the day ran smoothly and was so relaxing!
