Sophie and her now husband Brett could not have asked for a better day! Everything went to plan and not one bad thing happened!
Though an unforeseen lockdown was called the day they were due to get married, the couple had luckily postponed the week prior. Their day ran smoothly but the organisational process was not, with NSW and VIC locked out of QLD. This left her husband with no groomsmen and Sophia down one bridesmaid. There is always a silver lining and the two were prepared for whatever was thrown their way as they didn’t want to postpone for an entire year. That's when their 7 year old son stepped up and stood by his dad and from then on, everything was perfect.
Although not all of their loved ones were able to attend, they watched pre-recorded speeches at their reception. One from my husband's best man as he stood up at the end of his speech with no pants and a warm and loving message from my bridesmaid. It just made our day that little bit more special with messages from those who couldn’t physically be with us.
As for my gown, I had no idea what I wanted, but was really open to different styles. I wanted to see what best suited my body. I went to one other bridal store but didn’t fall in love with a dress. On the same day I went to When Freddie Met Lilly and the very first dress I tried on was the one I walked down the aisle in. I tried on a few others and loved nearly all of them but could not go past the very first one. I only worked with Vanessa when trying to find my gown but she was amazing. I was engaged in December 2020 and we booked our wedding for July 2021. Vanessa knew what a short window she had to make the gown but in no way made me feel stressed. If I was stressed, she was cool and had no worries, it made the entire process a lot easier.
The gown made me feel amazing! I am quite a shy person and this was the one day I wanted to really shine. This dress made that become a reality on my big day and I couldn’t have been happier!
As for my husband's suit, we were walking past a store one day, not even looking for suits and decided to go in and have a look. Nearly 2-3 hours later we had the whole suit paid for and took it home. Even the groomsmen outfits too. I was with my husband and he tried it all on and we both fell in love with the colour and everything else.
My advice to other brides is to try on all different styles. Be open and see what suits you. You only do it once, don’t be close minded on a particular dress. Also, enjoy the day. Everyone told me that it would go by super quick… They were not wrong! It went super-fast and I could’ve done it all over again the very next day. It was perfect.
