WFML Real Bride: Rosanna - Boho Wedding Gown Design

Posted by on

After getting engaged in January 2019, picking a date in May 2019, Rosanna and Shawn tied the know in October 2019. With just a few short months of planning, the big day came together amazingly. The couple decided that they wished to hold the reception in the back area of their house that was undergoing massive renovations earlier in the year. People said they were crazy, but it all came together and they couldn't have been happier! The big day did not have a traditional feel, but rather a day focused on celebrating the love and connection between Shawn and Rosanna - how special! Going for a rustic and relaxed vibe, the wedding did not break the bank and did not include a bridal party. Rosanna has a beautiful group of friends that she knew didn't need a "bridesmaid" title to be there and support her. The ceremony was held at the Brisbane Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages and followed by a cocktail-style reception filled with fairy lights, flowers and lanterns. Barrels were used as bar tables, rugs and cushions were set out for the guests and everything looked picture perfect! Due to the nature of their chosen wedding, Rosanna thought a traditional gown would look a little out of place. Originally Rosanna imagined herself in a flowy, loose, boho number but after trying on a few of our figure-hugging designs, her mind switched. As soon as she tried on her "would-be gown", Rosanna fell head over heels in love with it - the perfect style AND price range. It featured a stunning lace and we customised the underlay to be a texture and colour Rosanna preferred. The couple chose Shawn's suit together and ended up deciding on a light suit pants paired with a darker coloured jacket - just perfect.

When reflecting on her wedding gown Rosanna said; "I felt great in my gown on our wedding day. It was comfortable. It was simple to put on. It was easy to manoeuvre around in. It fit my figure really well. It got compliments all day. It was bridal without being too bridal! I felt that it was perfect for our wedding." As the planning for this wedding was done rather quickly, we were able to assist Rosanna in ensuring her dress was made in plenty of time (giving her one less thing to worry about!). It only took a few measurements before the dress was made, then a few alterations after and the dress was beautiful as ever and ready to go. Rosanna's top tips for those brides in the midst of wedding planning?

  • Be open and try on [dress] styles that you didn’t originally envision as you never know, they might surprise you!
  • Don’t be afraid to step out of the box on your wedding day. We used the resources around us to create our perfect wedding day. I made my own invitations. I created my own playlists on Spotify. We borrowed furniture from friends and family. We bought flowers ourselves to fill the vases at the reception. One of my cousins is an amazing singer so we had him sing with his guitar at the reception for a bit. One of my friends is an absolute wiz at creating grazing platters so we had her arrange the grazing platters for the reception. We organised a food truck to provide everyone with meals. Make your wedding day your own and do it how you want!
