WFML Real Bride: Katie - Getting married during COVID-19

Posted by on

In the time of COVID-19…

Katie and Jim planned to have the destination wedding that they had always dreamed of. Crystal blue water on the beaches of Vanuatu in May sunshine. A week away with 80 of their closest friends and family to spend quality time together and get married! However, the global pandemic brought those plans crashing down. The couple thought long and hard about re-booking the wedding. Maybe in a few weeks a few months or a year? The further into the pandemic the world got, the more an overseas wedding didn’t look like a reality; besides they just didn’t want to wait any longer! Enter, Plan B...

On the day…

In only 4 weeks, the beaches of Vanuatu became the beaches of Pumpkin Island, 80 people became 34 and a week became 3 days. But, it was the perfect island wedding that Katie and Jim had always wanted. The couple were blessed with magnificent weather, a wonderful venue and immense help from their loved ones to pull together the perfect day. Everything went off without a hitch! While restrictions on accommodation and transport to the island drastically minimised the guest list, some of their loved ones were unable to attend. While being the only aspect that the couple regrets about their Plan B, they definitely made the most of the situation and are so happy with the result.

The Dress…

In Katie’s search for her wedding dress, she was lost until she found When Freddie Met Lilly. Dreaming of a bespoke two-piece gown, WFML provided Katie with endless options and an above and beyond experience. After only two appointments with our in-house designer, Vanessa, the search was over. On their big day, Katie’s dress was the perfect style for their beach wedding and tied in well with Jim’s casual, linen beach look. Everything turned out in the end and looked absolutely incredible! Congratulations to the happy couple!
