WFML REAL BRIDE: DAN & KIMMY - WEDDING GOWN DESIGN

Posted by on

Gorgeous bride Kimmy and her husband Dan planned their wedding in 9 months, going off without a hitch! Deciding to do their wedding their way, they held the ceremony with extended family at the ‘Brisbane Powerhouse’ and kept the reception intimate at ‘The Black Brisbane’ with 60 of their closest friends and family.

With a healthy mix of traditional and contemporary, Kimmy described the wedding theme as eclectic, rustic and industrial. When picking ceremony and reception venues the couple wanted to choose them based on the history, stories and people running them, while keeping in mind how the lighting and ambience could be captured in photos and videos. As a lover of all things ‘glitter & sparkle’, Kimmy had tried on four other dresses and even bought a dress when she saw her dream dress on the WFML Instagram story. She knew it was ‘the one’ before even trying it on. The Ricardo Gown, adorned in rose gold sequins with a boat neckline and cowl back was the epitome of the ‘old love’ look Kimmy was dreaming of. She excitedly called her MIL & SIL and they all went to see Vanessa at the WFML studio that day to try the dress on and she FELL IN LOVE with the elegant, modern and unique sequin gown. “The service and care that Vanessa and her team provided was the experience that every bride should have with her dress.” Kimmy felt like an absolute queen on her special day and she looked like one too! With sequins and glitter running through her veins she felt elegant and classy with a good dose of sparkle. “It fit me like a glove and I felt a-mazing!”

Dan originally had his heart set on a sports jacket and chino’s in a muted khaki/olive green with navy blue accents with the vest and bow tie. Kimmy was unsure at first but trusted his judgement as they are both creative-minded and she wanted him to love what he was wearing on the big day. After the couple received a gift from Dan’s late Grandpa Jimmy, they set off to go suit shopping and found the exact suit that day in Myer. With only 18 of them being made and it being the last one in Australia, Dan tried on the suit and he loved it. As they went to pay for the suit they realised the brand of the suit was Grandpa Jimmy’s surname, Gibson. It was meant to be, the couple was sure it was a nod from Grandpa. Dan’s suit ended up complimenting Kimmy’s dress even though she didn’t find ‘the one’ until 7 months later!

Kimmy loved her experience with the WFML team, from the first time she spoke with Vanessa on the phone to the moment she took her dress off at the end of her special day. She felt confident with the most amazing service and was made to feel like every bride should feel when they go dress shopping. “My dress was phenomenal and I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with, to get the end result, which was me absolutely LOVING ‘the dress’ of my dreams.”

When we asked Kimmy if she had any advice for future brides she said, “Don’t choose a dress that everyone else likes. Choose the dress that makes you feel like a queen and that is YOU. Your wedding photos will be captured and shown to generations to come, the last thing you want is to look back on them and wish you had’ve worn the dress you wanted. You’ll be more comfortable, more at ease, your day will be amazing if you’re wearing the dress you want.”

Congratulations Dan & Kimmy!
