WFML Real Bride: Amanda

Posted by on

Originally planning to elope to the Remarkables in Queenstown, NZ, Amanda and her husband Justin ended up with a scene change and tied the knot by the beach! After only getting engaged in July 2020, the couple were excited to get married and although it would have been lovely to elope in this stunning location, Amanda was happy to alter the plans and ditch the idea of wearing thermals under her wedding dress! In the end, the big day could not have run more smoothly! Well, the weather could have been slightly warmer and less windy (as the turbulence the couple experienced on their helicopter ride was a little more extreme than planned!) but otherwise, everything was exactly how the couple imagined.

During the wedding planning stage, WFML was the first place Amanda looked for her dream gown. She came into our studio with her best friend and Vanessa, our designer, listened to exactly what Amanda was after and supported her to find the best possible option. Amanda mentioned that they went to another place after their appointment with us and found it to be disappointing - the store did not listen to Amanda's requests and kept trying to change her mind about what she wanted. So, they cancelled their appointments at two other places as they just knew they wouldn't get the experience WFML had anywhere else. In the end, Amanda's dress that we created together was utterly perfect. Originally planned to wear in the snow but then paired with some beach-friendly cute blue Converse, it was exactly Amanda's style. Her only regret is that someone did not clip the back of her skirt so that it didn't move when she lifted her arms around hubby, Justin! Once it was clipped after the ceremony it was so much better and Amanda said she would not have changed anything about the design.

Hearing these words from Amanda completely made our day so we just had to share them with you: "Vanessa and her team made me feel special and they listened and accommodated my needs. I will forever be grateful for their assistance in making our elopement so special. I have had so many kind words from friends and family about my outfit."

Alongside this, Amanda shared these wise words for any other brides in the depths of wedding planning: "Just do what you want to do and make the day special for you and your partner. Too many couples try to accommodate everyone else’s needs when the day should really be about the two people making a lifelong commitment to each other. I think making the choice to elope in our case meant that we both felt comfortable and weren’t forced into awkward photographs or coerced into dancing when we’d much rather just relax by the water or chat about the day."

A massive congratulations Amanda and Justin. We were so thrilled to play a little part in your absolutely stunning elopement.
