WFML Real Bride: Katie

Posted by on

At The Rocks in Yandina, amid its stunning huge gum trees, Katie and Nick were married in the outdoor rustic setting of their dreams.

The Rocks were quite helpful as they handled all the day-of planning, which relieved the newlywed couple of any unnecessary worry. The wedding was scheduled for the tail end of a winter covid outbreak, but fortunately for them, everyone who RSVPed were able to attend.

The day of the event didn't go exactly as planned. It began to drizzle erratically. Because they couldn't decide between an indoor and an outdoor reception for their wedding because both were so gorgeous, they changed to an indoor reception due to the weather, which was just as delightful. They insisted on having their wedding ceremony outside despite the drizzle as they really wanted to feature the lovely gum trees. Fortunately for them, the vendor that the couple hired assured Katie that her makeup will be weatherproof and the clothing could be cleaned after the wedding. Which is the greatest choice considering how much fun they had taking incredible shots in the mist.

The road to finding her wedding dress is not straightforward; the style Katie had initially assumed she would adore was out of fashion and she was unable to try anything similar. She was concerned about having it altered to fit her properly because the ready-made outfits contained elements that didn't suit her taste. It wasn't until her coworker suggested WFML that Katie felt she had a chance to design her ideal gown. She developed her ideal dress by integrating the different components from a variety of gowns she tried on from WFML. For Katie, Vanessa went out of her way to find a specific lace that differs from the beautiful flowery laces found in most dresses, and with a few design tweaks and adjustments, Katie got a gown that she wanted which fitted her perfectly.

“I loved my dress! I loved that it was comfortable yet beautiful and I very much felt like myself in it, although a much more polished version of myself.”

One thing that Katie felt most about WFML is, “[That] The girls from WFML were very helpful, I don't live in Brisbane so making appointment times was a bit trickier but they were easily able to accommodate me. Vanessa was so easy to communicate with and explained the different features of the dresses and how to pull them all together to create a dress that I loved. It was so great to have a dress that was made for my body so it fitted well and I didn't have to worry about alterations!”

Try on a variety of designs when choosing your wedding dress, Katie advises. Even a style that is so dissimilar from the apparel you often purchase, particularly ones that you don't believe you would like for a wedding gown. You'll be surprised to learn how much less expensive getting a custom gown can be, particularly in Katie's case, since she knew she'd have to pay for the extra length and alteration of an off-the-rack dress and even then, there will always be features she doesn't like, but WFML took care of all those problems for her.
